Tewksbury Planning Board Approves Two Permits, Continues Industrial Warehouse Fight
TEWKSBURY — May 11, 2026 — Tewksbury Planning Board continued a contentious 21,000-square-foot industrial warehouse proposal and approved two other special permits at its May 11 meeting. Chair Stephen Johnson and the four-member board voted 5-0 to continue the site plan review and special permit for PEPDE Corporation's proposed standalone light industrial building at 600 Woburn Street to June 15, after six Park Avenue abutters urged rejection of a project one called "an absolute disaster in our neighborhood." Engineer Gene Sullivan said the 24-foot-tall, multi-tenant structure meets all zoning dimensional requirements and is sited to act as a visual and sound buffer for residential neighbors, but board members want a rear-facade rendering, arborvitae screening options, fire department sign-off, and a tenant-accountability condition before acting. The board separately approved a special permit for Matthew Finn to relocate his retail store Paintball Wizard to 885 Main Street, Unit 5, and gave unanimous final approval to the site plan review and special permit for AJM Construction's residential redevelopment at 1325 Main Street, with conditions including vegetation maintenance to preserve a contested driveway sight line and year-round visibility of new pavement markings.
