Tewksbury School Committee names road for retiring superintendent Theriault-Regan
TEWKSBURY — June 10, 2026 — Tewksbury School Committee voted unanimously to name a loop road at the Ryan and Center Elementary schools in honor of retiring Superintendent Brenda Theriault-Regan at its June 10 meeting. The 4-0 vote, taken out of order to coincide with Theriault-Regan's final session, leaves the road's precise signage name to be decided at a future meeting. The committee also approved a $1,890,503.59 payroll for the period ending June 4, adopted three library and instructional-materials policies on second reading, and voted to hold athletic and club user fees level for 2026-2027 after Business Manager Dave Libby reported the district ran roughly $10,000 short of covering athletic transportation costs with fee revenue this year. The meeting opened with a remembrance of late member Jamey Cutelis, who died May 12 after a decade of service on the committee, and included retirement tributes to eight staff members including Wind Middle School Principal John Weir, who spent 32 of his 32-year career in Tewksbury schools. High School Principal Andrew Long reported vape detector alerts have dropped from 268 over roughly two months to seven in a single partial week, though committee members pressed for clearer student support plans for those showing signs of addiction.
